Wonderful Comedy Series

"If you don't like sarcasm, don't buy this. If you do plus biting satire and broad comedy all disguised as actual history, you're in for a treat. How can you not love a show with a theme song that once included this tribute to the lead character -- "Blackadder, Blackadder, you horrid little man." The first series is the weakest of the four. It has it's moments but it is in the next three -- Elizabethan, Regency (when George III was dealing with the colonies) and World War I -- that the show shines. My favorite among the extras is Blackadder Christmas Carol."

Great British Humor

"Great DVD set. Rowan Atkinson is very funny as the Black Adder. Don't expect Mr. Bean. This isn't slapstick. It's satire, sarcasm, political humor, and tongue in cheek with double entendres. You've got to have some understanding of British popular culture/figures to catch all the jokes. I don't, but could still catch most of the humor."
