Animation legend Chuck Jones had a mythic set of ground rules for his ingenious Road Runner series: the setting was always the desert, the characters never spoke, the Road Runner never left the road, the Coyote never caught the Road Runner, etc. A similar set of rules seems at work in THE GOLDEN COLLECTION introductory DVD presentation of Warner Bros. animated shorts.

"I have managed to collect all of the ones out so far on the Golden Collection as I am a lifelong Looney Tunes fan. The Golden Collections, Number Six included, are wonderful and very well done. The cartoons are as they were originally shown with a disclaimer at the beginning of each about issues which some today might find objectionable but were prevalent at the time they were made. The Special Features in each collection are wonderful as they explain how and when the cartoons were made and about the development of each of the characters as well as the people who made them. I find them very entertaining and wonderful "escapist fare." Volume Six contains many of the cartoons made during WWII, even the ones that were made for the government. I look forward to each volume as it comes out (don't know if there will be any more but will keep an eagle eye out)and really enjoy having my own collection of the cartoons I grew up with (and not the whitewashed and cut versions that were shown in later years on TV). Thank you Warner Brothers!"
